Here in Southern California we don't hear about a lot of "tractor" injuries, but they are quite common in other parts of the state and country. As we move north from Los Angeles, the landscape changes rapidly. Yesterday, a ranch hand in La Conchita was injured when he wasrun over by a tractor. He sustained serious chest injuries and was hospitalized at Ventura County Medical Center. His condition was unknown as of yesterday afternoon.
Police and rescue services arrived to the Ranch at 5700 West Pacific Coast Highway around 7:00 a.m. and found the victim to be alert and responsive. The man was no longer under the tractor when help arrived.
Workplace injuries can often be handled through the states Worker's Compensation system or as if they were "normal" personal injuries. Injured workers, with the help of their lawyers should make an election as to which way they want to proceed and then take appropriate action to be compensated for their injuries.
