Fungal Meningitis Deaths up to 29

The deaths keep coming as a result of tainted medication produced by the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Massachusetts. The medicine in question was a steroid called methylprednisolone acetate which is used to treat arthritis and back pain. The Centers for Disease Control recently reported that the number of deaths caused by the contaminated product is up to29 people with an additional 404 people sickened but not killed.
The CDC reported that over 14,000 people received injections from drugs compounded by this facility. All were warned to be on the lookout for symptoms of meningitis.
The New England Compounding Center also operates another similar facility called Ameridose in Westborough where they issued a voluntary recall on similar products.
To anyone who received an injection from either facility, please be on the lookout for any symptoms of meningitis. For more information goto the CDC website at: www.cdc.gov or call your doctor immediately if you think you may have been exposed to tainted medicine.
