Ford Motor Company has really been in the spotlight lately, not for their sales but for their recalls. This time ford recalled over 450,000 Escape SUV's because the cruise control cable can cause the gas pedals to stick. The recall involves Escapes made from 2001 to 2001 and vehicles with cruise control. Ford says in order for a problem to occur the gas pedal needs to be at or near the floor. This means the car has to be travelling fast. This is not a good time for a gas pedal to stick. Federal officials said the problem has already caused multiple injuries, accidents and even the death of teenage girl.
Consumer groups say that Ford has known about the problem since 2005. Others indicate the problem might have been caused by an earlier recall repair Ford had to do for an accelerator problem in 2004.
