City Efforts to Reduce Traffic Deaths Too Late For Van Nuys Man

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa justed announced his plan to place new cross walks at 53 busy City intersections, but his efforts were too late for a Van Nuys man killed while crossing the street in front of Valley Presbyterian Hospital.

A motorist ran down the man at the corner of Vanowen Street and Noble Avenue shortly before 5:00 p.m. yesterday. The fact that he was just outside the hospital didn't help the man who was cut down by a car while walking across the street in the crosswalk.

Vehicular homicide can be an accident, but it can also be a crime. When a wrongdoer is charged with a crime, that often improves the civil case for monetary damages. Injured parties can also be compensated for their out of pocket expenses in the criminal case against the driver.

Hopefully the Mayor's efforts will help others avoid the same fate. If you or someone you know has been injured in an accident, call me for a free, no obligation, consultation about your rights to recover money.
