Skechers to Pay Big for Shape Up Shoes

Skechers USA, Inc., the shoe company is about to pay out $40 million as a result of a class action lawsuit against them. The suit was brought by people who purchased their Shape-Up shoes believing the shoes would help the consumers to tone up their bodies, to lose weight and strengthen their muscles.

Plaintiffs in the law suit will be paid $80 per pair or Shape Up shoes, $84 per pair of Resistance Runner shoes, $54 per pair of Podded Sale shoes, and $40 per pair of Tone-Ups.

The settlement was reached shortly after the SouthBay Shoe Company had allegedly reached another settlement with the Federal Trade Commission regarding advertising for the same shoe types.
