was struck and
killed by a hit and run driver the in Santa Monica. The woman was visiting her daughter in the Santa
Monica when the two were both his by the car as they attempted to cross
Ocean Avenue about 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The 32 year old daughter
survived with only minor injuries and the driver fled the scene in what
was described as a silver colored sports car with darkly tinted windows.
Authorities were seeking local surveillance video to help identify the
suspects and/or the suspect vehicle that failed to yield or render or
call assistance after the accident. Police initially indicate that the
two pedestrians were crossing the street outside of a marked cross walk.
Little additional information was released by law enforcement.
This area of Ocean Avenue is described as being plagued by traffic collisions.
It is a very busy street which is close to both the ocean and many businesses
and residences. Recent traffic controls have been added to try to slow
traffic and reduce the number of traffic collisions in the area.
