26 Year Old Killed by Drunk Driver in Riverside

A 26 year old man was killed yesterday on Highway 71 in Riverside, California. The unknown male was standing outside of his Jeep vehicle on the side of the freeway when a 22 year old driver appears to have driven on the shoulder and struck the man who was standing outside of his stranded vehicle. CHP officers investigated the crash and determined that the 22 year old was under the influence of drugs and not safe to operate a motor vehicle. The accident occurred around 11:00 a.m. yesterday. The vehicle driven by the 22 year old was said to have rolled down the embankment after the impact and caused moderate injuries to the driver but the injuries were not life threatening.

CHP officers indicated that the driver was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing death. The driver could face years in state prison.
